Bosc pears are bronze-coloured with an elongated neck, and have a crisp, smooth texture. Their firm flesh protects them from bruising and helps them keep longer. They're excellent for holding their shape during baking or poaching, and they're delicious when eaten fresh as well (just make sure they're ripe).
