Red Fife is a heritage wheat variety. This means the grain is pure and predates the complex hybridization methods imposed by humans over the last century. The result is an organic grain that delivers a more robust nutty flavour than conventional wheat.
Our Red Fife is organic and proudly grown in BC. We slowly stone grind our Red Fife at low temperature to maximize flavour and preserve nutrients. The term “sifted” simply means we remove the bran.

We opened our bakery in Cowichan Bay in 2004, pouring our passion into creating the very best local, handcrafted, organic breads, pastries, and cookies. We use 100% BC-grown organic grain for everything we bake. From ancient grains like Einkorn, Emmer, Rye, Khorasan and Spelt, to heritage wheat like Canada’s own Red Fife, we buy directly from organic farmers close to home.We stay “true to the grain” when we stone mill the grain into flour, by milling at low temperatures and adding no preservatives or conditioners. Each day our talented bakers make hundreds of loaves and pastries by hand, using tried and tested European-inspired recipes. We don’t skimp on quality, and we never cut corners. The result is baked goods that are wholesome, full of flavour, and simply a joy to eat.
