Boots 'n' Roots Permaculture Farm
Boots 'n' Roots Permaculture Farm is situated in Glenora on a three-acre site. We farm one acre, plus have the use of three commercial greenhouses. Everything is grown naturally, both inside and outside of the greenhouses. We work hard in harmony with nature to bring you the safest, most nutritious vegetables all through the year. We focus on feeding the soil so that our plants are naturally healthy and full of nutrients. Everything we apply goes beyond organic requirements.
We're one of the few market garden farms in the Cowichan Valley that practices true permaculture techniques. This is a step up from traditional organic methods, and is both a sustainable and regenerative way to grow our food! We never use tractors or other heavy machinery, and practice a "no-till" method where a lot of effort is put into creating a healthy soil food web - loaded with beneficial micro-organisms, fungi, and minerals.
We make all our own compost and fertilizers from scratch right here on the farm. The techniques we use make the land healthier - regenerating a beautiful soil, sequestering carbon, and developing a great habitat for all sorts of local wildlife.
