Hornby Island Pâté
It all started in 1982 when the Cardboard House Bakery opened on Hornby Island. After years of operating in a world of summer-oriented businesses, the bakery was in need of something that could help them stay afloat in the winter months. Enter Hornby Island Pâté.Pâté had always been part of the bakery’s selection of fresh goods, and with its longer shelf life, it made for the perfect winter product. In 2004, the makers of Hornby Island Pâté decided to expand their reach and take their product to Thrifty’s Food. Hornby Island Pâté was met with enthusiasm and support from the local food store, and it quickly became a much-loved product across Vancouver Island.
From its humble beginnings as a simple product with basic packaging, this small local business has grown to become available in over 60 stores spanning 20 cities.
Hornby Island Pâté is handmade, plant-based, gluten-free, and soy-free.
